BROOKS STATION
The present community of Brooks originates with Brooks Station which was
a stop on the L&N Railroad. The name probably comes from Joseph Brooks
and for his family. The post office was es tablished in March of 1858. According
to G.W. Howes' Kentucky State Gazeteer and Business Directory for 1859 to
1860, No. I the village contained one church, two stores, one steam saw
mill, one physician, two attorneys, one carpenter, and one plowmaker. Following
