Crossroad
I was all on my own on my undeclared way
The hour was late you had not long to stay
You came close to leaving before you got through to me
I was hungry and lonely for good company
We were miles from each other On our roads in different ways
You were on a narrow road I was just on my way.
When we met there in the middle, as I opened up the door
I found an anchor and an answer I found what love was for.
You had been so far, I had tried so much.
You’d been living in a world I’d never really touched
But you showed to me how good a gift the gift of living is
How it remains a blessing when you have no more to give
If I looked for something better among all of the rest
I could never find it I’ve already found the best
Finding love and peace and happiness and real serenity
Being anchored to the Lord above’s the best security.
1974 Anthony Foster
This was written during a time when I found what it means to really fall in love with the Lord in a meaningful and deep way. I think that realization, somewhat like in a marriage as the relationship is defined, the commitment becomes all important-and though I was often faithless, He was always faithful.
