I Believe

We’re all living in a world that’s filled with sin

And I always tried to make it on my own

In a world like this a man must have a friend

He wasn’t meant to walk through life alone.

Now I walk through these shadows simply believing

He will lead me to the light above I know

I know because His peace I am receiving

‘And the fellowship of Love His Spirit bestows.

I believe I have received something I can’t describe

More satisfying than mere peace and higher than the sky.

I believe what I’ve received is wonderful and free

More exuberant than happiness, more unbounded than liberty

Not a doubt in my mind I’ve left it all behind

For I believe, I believe, I believe!

Like a sunrise all the darkness passed away

And His joy and His light my heart now owns.

He changed darkness into perfect day

He changed me for on me his light has shown.

He put me on a path narrow and bright

He will lead me to the light above I know

I know because His peace I am receiving

And the fellowship of Love His Spirit bestows.

I never really like the song “I Believe” that I sang as a part of the Tonemasters Quartet. You know- Everytime I hear a newborn baby cry or touch a leaf or see the sky then I know why I believe”- that kind of mushy belief isn’t worth dying for. So I wrote this. It didn’t cut it either.
