Listen to the Lord

Listen to the voice of the Lord

Listen to the voice of the Lord

Hear the fire cry and the whisper of the seas

Hear His voice in the sobbing of the trees

Listen to the voice of the Lord- listen to Him as He speaks His word

In the murmuring woods, in the water’s cool flow

In the rustling leaves the wind seems to know

That man has no power to take away

The freedom and power of a newborn day

Mysteries release to those who lend and ear

The Lord has wisdom for all to hear

Listen to the voice of the Lord

Listen more often to His word

Watch the embers glow and the newborns cry

in all His creation

Our Lord draws nigh

This song is an ealy response to the notion of the tuning of one’s heart to sing god’s praise. I grew up in the sticks, so to speak, with nature all around in a way I find most of my generation removed from. Rural Kentucky had its benefits in spite of no plumbing or indoor johns....written in response to Psalm 19...thinking on what I had in common with a shepherd boy...
