Love has Lifted Me

Love can be a fragile thing it grows more precious through the years

Look for it through weeping eyes and you will find it through the tears

Just let yourself be gentle because those who love must learn

That to give your love doesn’t mean there will be love in return.

Love can be a fragile thing, like a promise easily broken

Crushed by practicality or words better left unspoken

I’d like to tell you if I may- another side of Love I’ve found

The kind of love that lifted me must be the strongest love around!

Love has lifted me and carried me along

Love has picked me up and given me a song

When nothing else would do, Love was there to see me through

Love has lifted me and with Love I can’t go wrong...

Love can be a fragile thing in a world of fear and hate

You must grasp it while it lingers still, before it is too late

If you plant that seed within your heart when the rest has come and gone

And a silent world seeks music, Love’s the song that still plays on...

Love has lifted me and carried me along

Love has picked me up and given me a song

When nothing else would do, Love was there to see me through

Love has lifted me and with Love I can’t go wrong...

I had just met my future wife and we had had our first darte- an Imperials concert at Southern seminary and Italian food afterwards as I recall. Long conversations ensued.
