Wandering Friend

I walked along the shores of life and I wandered through the dying darkness

Wondering, pondering- how I might fill this emptiness

As I wandered there the waves so strong threw upon that shore their song

And as I peered into the tide- I saw a face- a man who died so long ago-

Long long, long ago

He said Stop your wandering friend, so aimless and alone

the journey is at its end so come on home, come on home!

I was surprised, but I waded in it’s joy laughed and splashed in freedom

Drank its life, saw the light and rejoiced- I rejoiced that it had come.

Now the light is full, the clouds are gone The son began to shine upon

the bright clear waters in my soul A partial life has been made whole

Since the Love of God became my own.

He said Stop your wandering friend, so aimless and alone

the journey is at its end so come on home, come on home!

I had a high school creative writing teacher who was a real inspiration to me- she saw value in self expression. So here’s to all the JoAnn Bealmears of the world- you too are doing God’s work!
