The Devil's Detours

I chose my direction but i didn't trust my guide

And though i didn't follow Him He never left my side

Through the Devil's detours where I went astray

Jesus waited patiently to show me the narrow way!

When the old man inside my head makes me stumble and I falter

When as a living sacrifice I try to slide off of the altar

A shortcut or an easy way to do things by myself

Don't try to meet your own needs- He's chosen you for Himself!

The Devil's detours can take you down a darkened road

On the Devil's detours you carry such a heavy load

When something deep inside me makes me a slave to sin

Who will come and set me free from this predicament I'm in?

thank god He rescued me from the Devil's detours
