The Perfect Crime

He came when you would least expect

With premeditated plans

Confronting men who loved the law

They could not understand!

they only saw the things they loved

Being threatened and maligned

If He could only steal their hearts

It would be the perfect crime!

He claimed He came to tear down walls

And to set the prisoners free

To break their shackles then their hearts

He just would not let things be...

When He became too great a threat

To power and belief

Though they could not convict Him

They killed Him like a thief!

Between two thieves the Son of God

Was hung for all to see

Crucified as a criminal

Exchanging places with me

But even in death the perfect crime

Was what would come to be

For He robbed the grave and conquered death

And stole the victory!

Now He's become my advocate

Pleads my case until that day

Like a thief in the night He'll come back

And steal us all away

The thief I gave my heart to

Will steal us all away!

The thief I gave my heart to

Will steal us all away!
