The Grace by Which I Stand

Confronted by my nature I see what god has done

An old man with old ways i've tried but never won

But time reveals our nature- there are sins I almost missed

Because we don't examine self-We're surprised that sin exists

But my hard heart breaks when I see his will

When He sheds his light I stand revealed

Standing in submission -for by my power I fall

It is grace that I will ponder -how it covers over all

For it is grace by which I stand as I stand face to face

With the exalted Lord who exalts me by His great and glorious grace!

My motivation's suspect- the proof can't be denied

Convicted of my selfishness I thought that it had died

But sin rears its ugly head when I'm demanding my rights

wrapped up in my point of view i cannot see with insight

But my hard heart breaks when I see his will

When He sheds his light I stand revealed

Standing in submission -for by my power I fall

It is grace that I will ponder -how it covers over all

For it is grace by which I stand as I stand face to face

With the exalted Lord who exalts me by His great and glorious grace!
