No Defect

He was led to the slaughter like a sheep

And for the first time in eternity

His father could look no more

Because of all the sin He bore!

Then He suffered ultimate pain

And afterward the lamb was slain.

The righteousness of God for men

Covered over all our sin

The sheep that did not go astray

Identified with men that day

So that we could be like Him

And lbe led back from the grave and sin!

The Father provided for man

The spotless and unblemished lamb

Pure and clean and perfect

In Him there was no defect!

All we like sheep have gone astray

We have turned, every one, to his own way

But God has provided a pure and spotless lamb

And laid on him the iniquity of man!

In sin and separation from the Lord

He built a bridge to receive us once more

We chose what God could not condone

But God has made a way to atone!

We'd followed one who'd gone astray

We went into his evil way

Lambs that followed close behind

But the spotless lamb can change our minds

All we like sheep have gone astray

We have gone every one to his own way

But the Lord has provided a spotless lamb

To become the righteousness of man!
