Believe You Believe

I've always believed in Jesus- I believed that He was crucified

I even believed that he rose from the dead- But I never understood why He died!

So many attest to who He was and from that they try to derive

Some sense of assurance- but an indwelling Lord

Is the only thing that could make you alive!

A mental assent is so lacking- Beieving is just not enough

Saving faith is more than just knowledge

For the demons believe in God's Son!

For Jesus can never be savior 'til He sits all alone on the throne

Till you give Him control of your body and soul

And the Spirit you once called your own!

You believe that you believe

But can you say you have received

The resurrected God who died

Do you know that he's living inside?

You believe that you believe

But can you say you have received the life that you profess

Are you sure it's something that you posess?

Do you believe in the Living Jesus? or the one who lived and long ago died?

Do you love Him enough to die to your sin and invite Him to come live inside?

You're the one that Jesus died for- you're the reason he bore the world's strife

But you just can't afford to call him your Lord

Till you're willing to give Him your life!

But can you say you have received

Do you know that he's living inside?

But can you say you have received the life that you profess

Are you sure it's something that you posess?
