Altar Call
We have builded us an altar - we've prepared the sacrifice
We're so satisfied to admire our work
As if the altar should suffice
We change and rearrange the stones
And we build the altar higher
While missing what's essential
For there's no sign of any fire!
There are altars of burnt offering and incense we know well
But they rest outside the Most Holy place where your Presence dwells
So show us now your glory to spirit eyes that shall not fail
Lord you've made the final offering and you've ripped apart the veil
Lord burn the wood and hay and stubble
'Til you become my one desire'
Replace my offerings with your sSOn
Purify me by your Holy Fire
So sLord build in us your altar
Lay thy Lamb upon our hearts
Send your fire down to consume us
And may that fire never depart!
There are altars of burnt offering and incense we know well
But they rest outside the Most Holy place where your Presence dwells
So show us now your glory to spirit eyes that shall not fail
Lord you've made the final offering and you've ripped apart the veil
