The Blood Remains

Look on the one that they have pierced as the soldier wipes off his sword...

Not a single bone was broken but blood and water surely flowed!

And the rains came down and washed the blood- some dried in the dirt below

Some washed away to the stream and some to the sea to mingle with life's ebb and flow.

Into the dust of the good earth and the cycle of life and of death

Down through the ages on winds of time- riding the air of our breath

For God shed His blood for creation And He left it to join with it too

To break down into its elements to remain with me and with you

But you don't have to drink wine to taste it by faith it can cover you too

You don't have to break bread to face it -by faith Jesus' blood can cleanse you!

A real man died on the cross that day- a real man writhed in pain

A real man was laid in an empty tomb and a real man rose again

And though He ascended He left behind a part of His being in space and time

His scars are in heaven and they will not change but somewhere the blood remains

For God shed His blood for creation And He left it to join with it too

To break down into its elements to remain with me and with you

But you don't have to drink wine to taste it by faith it can cover you too

You don't have to break bread to face it -by faith Jesus' blood can cleanse you!

A real man was forsaken on a cross- a real man writhed in pain

A real man was laid in an empty tomb and a real man rose again

And though He ascended He left behind a part of His being in space and time

His scars are in heaven and they will not change but somewhere the blood remains

Though nations may fall and the seasons will change, somewhere the blood remains

The blood still flows and the earth holds its stains-Because Christ arose the Blodd still remains

Note: This is just a mediation on the fact that the blood of Christ that was shed for us was real. It was made of molecules that were absorbed into the earth, evaporated into the air to be recycled into the Earth's systems. On the other hand, the only manmade thing in heaven are the scars on Christ's hands- there is a point here that there was a link made from heaven to earth- the heaven on earth and earth in heaven that was a picture of the mystery of the wonder of God's plan of redemption. Has He not sanctified us by the incarnation and made heaven habitable for humans in the process?
