Convicted and Freed

Like a thief on a cross I was bearing my sentence

Hanging at death's door in deep repentance

But He was hanging there beside me in that place

Now a heart proven guilty is freed by His grace!

Convicted and freed now there is no need

I'm justified- a pardoned life I must begin

For all my sins are forgiven- my iniquities forgotten

By the only one who can forgive my sin.

When I saw the truth in what he said

If you think a sin then it is true

I saw I could never go where He led

the deed was done what could I do?

For to entertain evil in the life of the mind

Is sinful and evil a yoke that will bind

So here I stand by His mercy, not pleading my case

A heart proven guilty and freed by His grace!

In the courts of the Lord mercy e're flows

The judge of the Earth forgave all that I owe

So by grace I will stand the Advocate my case shall plead

I'll trade my cross for His cross - I'm convicted and freed
