In a moment- one remarkable moment-

God gave this world the perfect present!

Through a segment of time arrived the divine

When God became a baby and was heaven- sent!

He who sustains all the universe contains

With a holy word chose to condescend

One who is greater than all we can know

Became at once an embryo inside a girl

One on whom He would depend and defend.

To think of Him in such a light

Doesn't seem to be just right

It is far easier to deny his humanity

Distance him in his divinity

For detached and denied He poses no danger

We clean all the manure from around the manger

And hope that he weill remain a stranger!

In a moment- one remarkable moment

In one instant the omnipotent

Made himself pierceable

Once spirit, now breakable

An immutable monarch could be bruised and bent!

God as a fetus came down to meet us

Came to display just what love meant!

In a womb holiness was sleeping

Now he's awakening and weeping!

In a moment that contains all mystery

Now let him in to the much and mire

To reach out and touch you is His desire

That is what his life was about

Only if we let him in can He pull us out!

For detached and denied He poses no danger

We clean all the manure from around the manger

And hope that he weill remain a stranger!
