Flesh is Grass
Stand and stare at brokenness- flesh is grass and so we
see
One walked on, splintered, crushed by life
For that is what Christ came to be!
Bone and blood, muscle and skin
What profanity He has wrapped His glory in!
We cringe at the sight in our sterility
Dumbfounded by this Holy Mystery!
Flesh is grass and it shall surely pass
'Til it's glorified one day
Flesh is grass- but the Spirit shall last
Because of the flesh the Word became
A terrible love broke through the bounds
Of space and time in every place
in every age He now is found
By any one who will seek his face!
We see our ways unto the stars
And are stopped by fesh's prison bars
But now slip your hand into God's wound
And fall on your face at what you've found!
Flesh is grass and it shall surely pass
'Til it's glorified one day
Flesh is grass- but the Spirit shall last
Because of the flesh the Word became
