How shall  I Comprehend?

 

How marvellous- how shall I comprehend?

The one I denied suffered and died

For one who would have crucified Him

Still He came to bear my blame

To die in shame- pursued me beyond death and sin!

 

I need not pretend for I will never comprehend

The depths and length and width of mercy

It's glorious immensity

But i can see my heart is set free

I can claim the grace that first claimed Me!

 

Such a mystery-how shall I comprehend?

Eternity bled- the immortal is dead

Buried just as He said to arise again!

Tha angels cannot know the depth of love he bestows

On the seed of Adam's Woe- In order our salvation to win!

 

I need not pretend for I will never comprehend

The depths and length and width of mercy

The chasm is bridged how shall I comprehend?

The design deity desired The distance required

When the Godhead conspired to condescend

To become empty of all but mercy

To seek and save me To claim me for His eternal friend!
