To Obey Is Better than Sacrifice

 

We plead with God to speak

When he has already spoken

He is speaking in our hearts

The silence is left broken

 

We ask the Lord to come to us

When He is present and awaits

The recognition he desires

We deem a wanton waste.

 

We ask the Lord to do great things

That He has already done

We waste prayers and works and deeds

Unbelief has stopped them one by one.

 

To obey is better than sacrifice

To obey is better than any price

You could pay only to find it vain

Obedience is the will of God for man.

 

We ask the Spirit to fill us

While we are already full of doubt

He is present- he is waiting

The obedient heart, He'll not cast out

 

To obey is better than sacrifice

Without obedience all is lost

All these things will turn to dust

Unless we learn to turn and trust
