The Best Defense

 

The Best defense is Christ's Holiness

to guard our scheming hearts

To shield us from temptation-

protect us from Hell's fiery darts

He garrisons our weakness-

his armor will not fail

A fortress in our battles-

His righteousness prevails!

 

The best defense is Christ's redemption

that in our heart abides

To turn us from our sinful ways

and on to safety guides

A refuge for our troubled times-

a haven for our rest

A sanctuary for our souls-

a shelter of blessedness!
