Don't Be Pathetic

When the tempter tries me, when obedience belies me

I would see with new eyes, I would recognize

That I am a child of the King- chosen to inherit everything.

So I say to myself "Don't be pathetic, don't entertain lies within."

So I say to myself "don't be pathetic, don't be sympathetic to sin..."

Why should I play in the dirt and the dust

When I have been given a pure and holy trust?

Why am I eating scraps that dogs left behind

When a banquet awaits me if I'm so inclined?

So I say to myself Don't be pathetic, don't entertain lies within.

So I say to myself don't be pathetic, don't be sympathetic to sin...
