A Clever Lie

I'm devastated by my own desire- caught up in mundane things with which my heart conspires

Yet I can suddenly see from time to time- I'm living less truth than I'm living a lie.

The light abruptly dawns upon my eyes- I've compromised, I've donr the things that I despise

And suddenly I see the real futility of my endeavors- the lies may be clever but they're lies.

Jesus you must have for me a very special blessing

To assoult my sin so violently to drive me to confessing

That I really want nothing and I can be nothing and there'snothing I can do

I'm helplessly hopelessly in need of you
