Woe Is Me

In the presence of holiness I am totally undone;

My integrity disintegrates until I now have none

My heart is shown as wicked with desperate deceit

I am ruined and my ruination is complete...

His holiness sears me and I am purified

Like coals of fire from the place where he resides

The wound of my flesh is cauterized clean

My mouth and my heart and all I have been.

Woe is me! I am undone!

Woe is me, I am unclean!

Holy Holy Holy the Lord our God is one!

Vanity of vanities in truth I have seen!

For buried with him by baptism in death

The old life heaves forth its final breath

By the Father's glory in Christ I am raised

In newness of life to walk in his praise.

I am undone and with me my chains

Are shattered and ruined 'til nothing remains

In him held together my life he is freeing

In him to live and move and have my being!
