I Long for the Day

Here between the now and the not yet

There is so much time for regrets

And much more time for making mistakes

But never enough for the time it takes.

To perform the gymnastics of apology

To find the path that sets me free

To find all the words that I should say

But I long for another, better day.

I long for the day when faith becomes sight

The hope we embrace we shall  see face to face

I long for the day  when the spirit contrite

Will be sifted and lifted to stand by His grace.

There is a promise of  a glorious day

when our inheritance shall be on display

With no condemnation or reprimand.

When before the Lord I shall stand

There in forever we ever shall know

The glory the power  He  was pleased to bestow

By the blood of the lamb on the ones who believe

As many as would choose the gracegift to receive

I long for the day when faith becomes sight

The hope we embrace we shall  see face to face

I long for the day  when the spirit contrite

Will be sifted and lifted to stand by His grace.
