Marked man

 

Mark me with compassion

Make me an expression

An instrument of grace

Replace the smile on my face

With a countenance of love

A mark that to the world shall prove

That there is a reason for hope

A compelling calling of eternal scope

A difference, direction, and a desire

All pointing to  the One transcendant fire.

 

Let love be the seal of the faith I profess

Living and breathing in love is the test

Giving self freely to th ebody of Christ

Doing good daily as a living sacrifice.

 

Take me and break me and make me a marked man

A statement of faith the world can understand.

Marked with the sign borne by the shepherd’s flock

A love for the family that lives on the Rock.

 

Pierce my ear now and make me a slave

What a slave I would be to the one who forgave!

He poured out his glory and a servant became

To live his life thru us and give us his name.
