Here Am I (Hineni)

The sheep hear his voice and they follow..

He calls them each by name.

But when there are no ears to hear,

His voice cries out again and again...

When their own name they fail to recognize

When they prefer to listen to voices that lie

What a word they miss What a tragedy is this

For he came so far to seek and to save

And they hide from him within something they crave

Speak Lord, your servant hears

Your voice comes through loud and clear

Hineni- Here am I, Hineni- Here am I

Let you voice quicken my heart and ears and eyes

Let your servants hear the words that will make us wise

And then respond- Hineni- Here Am I

Well I am a sheep and my shepherd is the Lord

his voice of authority must not be ignored

Speak to me the way I should go

The path ahead I cannot know

What a word this is- I never want to miss

For he came here to seek and to save

To return his lambs safely his own life he gave

Speak Lord, your servant hears

Your voice comes through loud and clear

Hineni- Here am I, Hineni- Here am I

Let you voice quicken my heart and ears and eyes

Let your servants hear the words that will make us wise

And then respond- Hineni- Here Am I

Don’t let me be an Eli- so out of touch with what he heard

It took three times to recognize the Shepherds words

Speak Lord, your servant hears

Your voice comes through loud and clear

Hineni- Here am I, Hineni- Here am I

Let you voice quicken my heart and ears and eyes

Let your servants hear the words that will make us wise

And then respond- Hineni- Here Am I
