No Escape (Blood of the Innocents)

A voice was heard in Ramah of one who weeps and mourns

Rachel weeping for her children-no comfort come for the forlorn

She cries for the innocents that in Bethlehem were slain

Though the prophets had foretold it, she cannot bear the pain.

With weeping unrestrained and anguish cutting to the bone,

How shall we account for them? Who for our tears atones?

There was but one who got away- only one escapes the holocaust

But for dozens more the darkness came- With no escape-they paid the cost

No escape- there was no escape- no angel comes- no dreams in the night

No escape- there was no escape- No watchman warns them to take flight

The massacre’s atrocity- this barbarous calamity

There was no escape- no refuge was in sight.

A harrowing from hell unleashed its fury at the light

Where the sun shines brightest shadows fall the hardest into night.

Into the maelstrom of evil-No refuge from the devils rage

But this warrior king one day their war would wage.

With Abel’s blood they cry out- they’ll be avenged some day

For the breaker king shall give them life- with his life he makes a way.

Confronting evil’s forces, the savior this darkness invades

So that we could all escape The ransom must be paid.

No escape- there was no escape- no angel comes- no dreams in the night

no escape there was no escape- No warning comes to take their flight

The massacres atrocity- the bartbarous calamity

There was no escape no refuge was in sight.

An unseen battle rages in the heavenlies

With this helpless baby’s birth death’s fate was sealed.

And this babe for whom the others died shall one day

Turn mourning into dancing when his glory is revealed.
