Christ Broke the Seal

Like a tomb sealed by a Roman guard, my heart was sealed, cold and hard

Like a shallow grave, like a demon's bed, my spirit was a corpse, empty and dead.

But while I was in that awful state, Christ broke the seal upon my fate.

He came from his throne and sought me, infused new life and brought me

Out of my darkness and despair, and gave me a royal robe to wear.

In terrible mercy he tore apart the sepulchre that was my heart.

Redeemer , King , and sovereign Lord, my ever living Christ

You are the resurrection, you are the life, the Giver of love and light

Christ broke the seal that sin had placed

Christ broke the seal, my guilt erased

Christ broke the seal and then replaced

It with the seal of His Spirit

I have no reason to fear it
