Seek First

If you're seeking to grow or seeking to reach

Seeking influence or to compel

Seeking your answers or seeking to teach

You can do all this and miserably fail!

We seek a platform from which to speak

We seek to succeed and we seek to gain

But if it's not kingdom that you first seek

All of your seeking will be in vain.

Behold now the kingdom with eyes that are new

Behold now the kingdom from God's point of view

Then as you seek you will truly find

God's blessing, God's heart and God's mind.

No matter if it seems like you're blessed

In seeking pleasure and seeking to please

Seeking the kingdom and his righteousness

Is different from seeking comfort and ease.

You may find that all your treasure

Has been gained by your work alone

Stolen time and stolen pleasure

Taken away from God's righteous throne.

Behold now the kingdom with eyes that are new

Behold now the kingdom from God's point of view

Then as you seek you will truly find

God's blessing, God's heart and God's mind.
