Blaze of Glory

When this life is over

When my time is said and done

I want to leave here is a blaze of glory

Wanna go out like an exploding sun

A supernova of His grace

But not just in my final hour

To leave behind the stuff of life

My portion of his power

When I've run the final mile

When this life is through

Wanna leave like an autumn maple in Maine

With glorious many colored hues

As I shed my leaves upon the ground

My last seeds and my fruit

So those who now are left behind

Can pick up my pursuit.

When it's time for me to die

I would pray that by God's grace

I'll go out like a Texas sunset

With grandeur and heart ablaze

For the glory of a sunset

Reminds us of the fire

That's rekindled every waking morn

Along with new desire.

So let my living now prepare

Me for the coming time

Let ride now in a chariot of fire

In light and glory sublime

So that all my life reflects it

The here and now will show

That the blaze of glory yet to come

Resides in me wherever I go.
