Empty hands

There’s another way Instead of holding on

Take the books off of the shelf and be undone

The clutter from the closets The garage all clear of wealth

The mind all full of  doubts Take my life off of the shelf.

Take the things I hold so tightly and all this useful stuff

Touching the hem of your garment ain’t nearly enough

Hold me Jesus Let me cling to you and let go

Dance the dance of servants entwined here below

Dancing with empty hands open to things I can hold

Wood and hay and stubble exchanged for fugitive gold.

And let me cling to you as I let go

Barter for a new life – if you’ll take the old…

I just can’t be a superman with x ray vision eyes

But I can be a man  who sees through tears and is made wise

Don’t want to be the Bible answer man

Don’t want to be Mr. Fixit or  make up  some five year plan.

Just want to honor you  sure as I am born

Rejoicing gratefully as I sojourn

Bringing the not yets to the nows

Living the kingdom I seek till the coming of the cows

Following a lover who is way beyond the Tao.
