Ever Begotten

Oh see this thing our God has done

Oh see the mystery-

The lamb of God has become power-

Rich through His poverty…

In a baby in an unclean place al power He did yield

The ruler visits us in ruins and so he is revealed

God with Us was conceived on earth

A savior with a virgin birth.

This weakness has become our strength

As we are stripped of pride

And as His life becomes our life

The Sinner’s sanctified.

The inner womb of wisdom

Gives birth to Son of man

A newborn ancient of all days

The enigmatic plan.

Though He be born a thousand times

His coming is in vain

Lest he be born in us today

We lose, For He SHALL reign.

Ever begotten, His nature revealed

In the strange and simple way

That even a child can understand

Be born in us today!
