Nailed to the Cross

I must shut my mouth and say nothing

For there is nothing to say

Of the sin  that God has forgotten

When he accounted to me His grace

He will not remember it to me

So I’ll live in remembrance of Christ

The record of my debt is slain

With the final sacrifice

There is no hope in deeds

There is no hope in creeds

The one thing every sinner needs

Is to hope in Christ alone

There is no balanced scale

For every deed shall fail

Our only hope then is to nail

Them to the cross alone.

To be blotted out, not balanced

For everything not done in faith  is sin.

Righteous rags worn by strangers to grace

They reveal us as condemned

For he became the record of my sin

I am made righteousness of God in Him!

There is no hope in deeds

There is no hope in creeds

The one thing every sinner needs

Is to hope in Christ alone

There is no balanced scale

For every deed shall fail

Our only hope then is to nail

Them to the cross alone.
