In the Desert

In the Desert

In this desert, in the coldness

Be my pillar of fire burning bright

Lead me onward by your presence

Cover me in the darkness of night.

In the desert, in the burning

Be my pillar of cloud by day

Shelter me from the searing heat

I follow as you guide the way

In this desert in the dryness

Be my rock from which waters flow

I will drink and not be thirsty

To your fountain I will go.

In this desert we become too wise

When on our selves we set our eyes

Turning ever inward we

Forget to look and see

The fire and the cloud and the rock of eternity

Evidence the Father's love for you and me.

In a dry and weary land

Your presence I will pursue

As I abide in you I will hide

I want nothing more than you.

In this desert we become too wise

When on our selves we set our eyes

Turning ever inward we

Forget to look and see

The fire and the cloud and the rock of eternity

Evidence the Father's love for you and me.
